Indio . Month 5

This time last year, we knew we were expecting and often thought aloud, "Next Christmas we will have a baby to share it with....a baby!" I imagine we repeated the last part to emphasize our excitement as well as impart to each other the realization that our family was growing. I secretly daydreamed about the family gathering together with our little one bundled in an adorable and festive outfit while being admired, loved and passed around by everyone. This year my daydream played out, with the exception of the festive outfit part - I think whatever was on top of the clean clothes pile won out. Regardless, it was a magical time for us as parents spending the first holiday season with Indio and knowing future Christmases will hold more wonder and excitement for him and probably fewer naps when presents are being opened.

On the development front: Indio rolls over quickly from back to stomach. At first, the movement was laborious and not without a few tries; however the roll has been perfected and he demonstrates his new found skill shortly after being placed on his play blanket or in his crib (much to the distress of his parents when we find him sleeping on his stomach). Indio rounded out the rest of the month becoming...deliberate. His aunt, Alyse, noted this when he reached for a toy and it described his behavior perfectly. Toys that were once out of his reach are now zeroed in on with laser focus and then passed off jerkily from hand to hand to mouth, but with increasing fluidity. I'm warning you now that no hair or earrings are safe anymore from his grasp.

His stats:
Weight: 19 lbs. and some change (my how lax we've gotten).

Momma loves
: His increased motor skills. The pacifier, which was once lost forever when it popped out of his mouth, he can now locate and place back in his own mouth - although sometimes backwards - which is simultaneously adorable and fascinating.

Da Da loves: His laugh. Indio readily doles out a chuckle for a silly dance, a goofy voice or a crazy performance of just about any kind. Getting that instant feedback makes us break into dance often.
