Its been a while since I've posted an update on Indio and while 21 months isn't a typical milestone age, I've got plenty to report.
Our boy does little boy things - I can't explain it any other way than to dole out a few anecdotes. He loves to try to burp and fart, especially at the end of meals and he gives a hearty chuckle when he is successful. Toy trucks and cars are suddenly equally awesome to anything animal in the playroom - with Wednesday mornings being a great day to watch the garbage trucks run their route in our neighborhood. He can climb onto stools and chairs quickly, so even blinking around him isn't advised.
He is becoming his own person and he has ideas of his own, like ice-cream for lunch, but is still working on conveying those ideas in words. Mostly we play a huge game of charades and try to get him to say words by over-enunciating any word we think of. Indio does have some favorite words: 'cheese', 'more' and 'cheers' (which sounds a lot like cheese, but he lifts his glass in anticipation of a little chin-chin action). He is clearly my son if early words include 'cheese' and 'more.' He articulates 'Momma', 'Dadda', 'Nana' and 'Bubba' very well, but it is no indication of preference as most people take a backseat to his grandpas almost always now.
Sometimes he surprises me by acting older than his 21 months. The other morning he clearly wanted me to get up with him. He was standing bedside pulling the covers off of me and then he picked up a pair of pants that were on the ground and handed them to me. I thanked him and started to pull them on. He picked up another pair of pants and tried to hand those to me. I told him I didn't need those; he immediately wadded them up, pulled open a dresser drawer, threw them in and closed the drawer. He runs a tight ship.
His stats:
Weight: 25 lbs and some change
Indio Loves:
Garbage trucks, bubbles, sweeping, mulch and touching Chihiro's (our cat) ears. Also going to the park and being outside, in general.
Momma Loves:
His growing personality and that he responds to what we tell him. Of late, his disappointment is clearly indicated by a whiny 'aaaaawwwwh', with the perfect nasal inflection. And he gave us an eye roll the other day that I didn't think was possible until junior high age. I anticipate many more of those in the future and will be sure to thank Daniel for passing down the epic eye rolling trait.
DaDa Loves:
I love when he reacts to something without any cues from us. Like when he dances or sings along to a song when he thinks nobody is watching, or takes a bite of something that tastes good and gives an enthusiastic "mmmmmmm!"
