Laugh all you want Californians: the recent earthquakes in the Midwest are scary. The combination of 2 nearby faults and brick buildings is not a good one. We are actually so used to not worrying about earthquakes that most of the people I talked to thought it was something else when shaken out of bed at 4:37 am on 04/18/08 by the 5.2 magnitude 'quake:
1) Thunder rumbling
2) A train going by
3) A ghost shaking the bed (we chalk this up to the fact people were sleeping)
4) Someone hitting the house with a car
5) A seizure
