Day 5 . Juneau
Juneau only rated an 'eh' in my book, as compared to other stops on the trip. The weather was a rain/drizzle mix, but I can't ding the town for that. What I can complain about is half the shops downtown were closed and the other half weren't that interesting. Beyond a few open shops, Juneau didn't have much to offer within walking distance of the port. On the plus side we went to Mendenhall Glacier (which would be our first glacier of the trip and therefore shined in all it's magical glory) and ziplined in the mountainside tree canopy. The zipline was a great eustress experience and the course seemed very well maintained (although this was my first zipline experience so I have no idea why I am talking like I know something about this.) Of interest: we drove by the governor's mansion on the way to our excursion and a moving truck was backed up to the front door so it looks like the Palins were making the move official - only the rain/drizzle could mask my tears.
